  Chapter One

Dr. Kelsie Madison stared out the frost-crusted second floor maternity ward window and sighed. The harsh snap of snow pelting the glass panes was setting her nerves on edge and she just wanted to get out of here. It had been snowing all day and well into the night. Now it was three in the morning and all the cars in the parking lot, the nearby pine trees and the only road to and from the hospital were blanketed with at least two feet of white. What she wouldn’t give to be out there taking a leisurely walk, listening to the calming scrunch of snow give way beneath her boots and feel the lacey wet snowflakes tickle her face.

  Anywhere but here.

A blood curdling scream from the woman lying in the nearby bed snapped Kelsie out of her momentary peace.

“Easy, Finley. The babies are almost here,” she reassured her arch enemy.

If Finley had been any other patient, Kelsie would have taken her hand in hers and squeezed gently in an effort to calm and comfort. But Finley with her long black hair a sweaty tangled mess and her brown eyes shooting daggers of hate, flipped Kelsie the middle finger.

  Lovely.

“I want another doctor!” she wailed.

  Here we go again.

“The storm is preventing anyone from getting here. I’m all you got.”

Kelsie gazed back out the window. To freedom.

“But you’re a killer! I don’t want a killer delivering my babies,” Finley snapped.

Bitch. Now was not the time to bring up the past.

Kelsie moved from the window and grabbed Finley’s chart. The nurse who was checking the fetal monitor gazed at Kelsie and gave her a sympathetic shrug.

“I didn’t kill your brother, Fin. You know that.”

“If you hadn’t broken up with him, he wouldn’t have been drinking. You let him get into the car when he was drunk. It is your fault he is dead. No one else’s fault. Just yours.”

You let him get into the car when he was drunk. Familiar guilt zipped through her and she flinched as the memories rose up stark and raw. Images of Mark showing up sloshed to the gills with booze at her Thanksgiving party where she’d been waiting for her guests to arrive. He’d been determined to get her into his car and drive them somewhere so they could talk about getting back together. But she’d refused. She’d told him she wanted nothing to do with him until he got some help for his addiction to alcohol.

After he’d caused a scene by smashing her punchbowl on the floor, along with destroying pretty much every breakable item in her apartment, he’d left. When she’d spied him stumbling into his car, she’d called 911 for help, but the police had been too late to stop him. He’d wrapped his car around a tree at the first curve in the road. He’d died instantly. Finley still blamed Kelsie for his death.

“Her husband called. He’s snowbound at the Calgary airport. The car rental is closed due to the weather and he can’t make it here for the births,” the nurse whispered.

“I’m in the room you know. Don’t talk behind my back,” Finley snapped. “Now shut up. The pain is coming again!”

Finley moaned, clutched her arms over her chest and cried out. Her sweaty face was scrunched in pain and her body trembled.

Kelsie inhaled in an effort to calm herself and struggled to not tell her patient she could go to hell. Why in the world did she have to be the only one available in the hospital to deliver Finley’s babies? The woman freaked out every time she got close to her.

Why couldn’t Finley’s husband be here? He was the richest man in town. He owned private planes for crying out loud. He could have found a way to be here. But Kelsie knew why he wasn’t in such a hurry. Chances were the babies Finley was about to deliver weren’t his, because as Finley enjoyed bragging to whoever would listen, they had an open marriage.

“How’s it going in here?” a deep sexy voice erupted from behind her making Kelsie jump in surprise.

At the voice, Finley’s shoulders slumped in relief. The nurse’s eyes widened in surprise, quickly followed by a coy smile and Kelsie’s heart began a way too fast pound.

Great. Just who she needed. Dr. Ryder Greene. He was the newest doctor in town. The hottest hunk in the entire hospital and thankfully he knew how to deliver babies. She was so off the hook and out of here!

“We thought you’d already done a back to back shift and they were going to get someone else?” Nurse Jackson said in a soft whisper from where she was stationed. She was ogling the doctor like some teenage girl in heat and a blade of unwanted jealousy whipped through Kelsie.

“I did. But no one could make it in due to the storm. And when someone called that Finley was refusing a doctor, I thought I should head back in.” he said. Finley smiled at him and batted her eyelashes way too fast for Kelsie’s liking.

She fought the tinge of jealousy and forced herself to turn around and face the guy that always made her pussy clench in one heck of an erotic way. The instant their gazes connected she fell into the bluest eyes she’d ever seen. Gosh, the guy always swept her away into a world of erotic visions of him climbing over her tense body. His cock, thick and swollen, thrusting hard and fast into her vagina. She swore it took her way too long to find her voice, let alone remember how to talk. These naughty reactions were the main reason she’d been avoiding the doctor as much as possible.

“That would be me she’s refusing. She’s all yours, doctor.” Wow! Was that her voice, sounding all bedroomy and seductive?

He towered over her and boy did he smell good. Like leather bindings and fresh soap. Mercy, the room felt way too small with him in it.

“I’ve left notes with her chart. She’s close to delivering,” Kelsie explained and handed him the clipboard with all the pertinent information he would need. He nodded and began reading.

Great, this was the perfect opportunity to make her escape. She was almost out the door when he spoke again.

“Not so fast, Dr. Madison,” he said softly. Too softly. Almost as if he might be shy around her? No way. Not possible. But gosh, why did his voice make her want to crawl into bed with him? And why was her face heating up like an inferno?

“Yes, Dr. Greene?” she asked, forcing herself to turn and face him again.

Sensual trembles whispered through her as he smiled. Oh heavens, he looked so yummy. But Kelsie knew he was off limits. He’d moved here with a guy, the hospital’s new physiotherapist, and the two men had rented a small house on the outskirts of town.

His voice lowered so only the two of them could hear.

“Don’t listen to her. What happened to her brother was not your fault. Always remember that.”

She tossed him a wobbly smile. Easy for you to say. The guilt will be with me to deal with for the rest of my life. But she would deal with it, just as she had been doing for years.

“Don’t venture out in this weather. The roads are too icy and it’s dangerous. Crash in the doctors’ quarters and wait for the snowplow to come.” Wow, the concern lacing his voice sent carnal shivers racing through her.

Kelsie nodded obediently and slipped out the door into the quiet hallway.

She let out a shuddering breath and almost snapped her stethoscope over her heart to check and make sure she wasn’t going to have a heart attack, as her heart was thumping much too quickly. She was breathing way too fast too. Why in the world did she react so…intensely to him, even when she knew he was already taken by a man?

Kelsie shook her head and walked toward the elevator. It didn’t matter how she felt about the hottie sex-on-a-stick doctor because the man was gay. She just needed to remember that and she would be fine.

This Christmas Eve make all of your naughty ménage dreams come true. Come and join the Santa Claus Ménage Night festivities at the Key Club.

Kelsie Madison blew out a tense breath as she sat in a secluded corner of the empty cafeteria and sipped her third cup of bitter vending machine coffee. She’d found a stack of Key Club flyers in the doctor’s lounge, of all places, and had stuffed one of the papers into her purse. After picking a cot and trying to catch a nap, she’d finally given up after two hours. Instead of sleeping she’d been staring at the cute artificial silver Christmas tree set in the corner of the room. The tree with its miniature red and white striped candy cane decorations had kept her thinking about how close it was to Christmas and that she hadn’t even taken the time to do present shopping for her two week old niece.

Frustration and guilt had finally prompted her to get dressed and come here to the cafeteria to grab some coffee.

When was the last time I’ve cut loose and had no strings sex? She wondered as she focused her attention back to the green colored flyer. It had a photo of two young men wearing red and white Santa hats, low-hung red pants with black belts and the traditional black boots. Their tanned muscular chests were bare. Between the men stood a woman wearing a skimpy red dress, its edges trimmed with white fur. The three people were intertwined in a naughty pose and the guys looked so hot in their suits it made shivers of excitement whip through her. Yeah, she needed to go the Key Club and hook up with a couple of guys and engage in some no-strings feeling-sorry-for-herself Christmas sex.

“Hey pretty lady, you must be delivering babies to be here this early.”

She’d been so engrossed in reading she hadn’t even heard Ryder’s male…partner, Dixon Flynn, approach. His sexy baritone voice sent awesome tingles of delight whipping through her. Her reaction was always similar to the wicked shivering she experienced when around Ryder. Oh, why did she have to feel so attracted to two gay guys?

She gazed up at him. Her pulse began the familiar quick pound and her breath halted with appreciation.

My gosh. He looked sexy hot even at this early hour in the morning. His face was healthy red from the outdoors. Droplets of melted snow shone brilliantly in his short black hair, which was combed straight back off his forehead and there was a dark shadow on his chin and cheeks and beneath a perfectly shaped nose. Instead of having blue eyes like Ryder, Dixon’s eyes were brown. Chocolately melt her knees brown.

Yes, very hawt look. She wouldn’t mind waking up to that every morning. Heck, she wouldn’t mind waking up to both Dixon and Ryder every morning.

“Never left yesterday,” she said, trying to act casual but darned if her voice didn’t betray her with its huskiness. More heat whipped into her cheeks. Crud, she needed to leave before he noticed she was blushing and she made a fool of herself.

“The storm grounded you?” he asked as he unwrapped a red scarf from around his neck and removed his black ski-jacket. He wore a very tight white sweat shirt that proudly showed off wide shoulders and bulges of muscles in his arms.

She nodded, experiencing the same kind of forgetfulness of how to talk as she did with Ryder. My! The heat was spreading from her cheeks to…everywhere. She watched as he set both his scarf and coat on the back of a nearby chair.

“It’s pretty rough going out there. I just took a two hour walk after dropping off Ryder here. The snow is coming down like crazy and I couldn’t even see my hand in front of my eyes. Ryder and I had a hell of a time getting through. It’s a good thing we own a snowmobile. When the plows can’t keep up with the snow, we can always get through.” He frowned. “Sometimes I think it would have been better if we’d not rented that little farmhouse on the outskirts of town. It’s kind of far to drive for Ryder when he gets an emergency page.”

Guilt slammed through Kelsie. It was because of her that Ryder and Dixon had been put into danger in coming to the hospital. She wondered how Finley was doing upstairs. She hoped everything was going okay with the deliveries. No problems had been anticipated. Except for Finley not wanting her there. That woman and her brother were the only black mark for Kelsie since she’d moved here with her sister, Marley, many years ago. Aside from the tragedy with Mark, she loved it here in this small Alberta town nestled close to the foothills of the Canadian Rockies.

“Is this yours?” Dixon asked. He’d walked behind her, pulled out a chair on her other side and sat down. At first she didn’t know what he was talking about but then she froze as he studied the Key Club swinger flyer lying right in front of her where she’d lain it to read.

  Oh shit!

“No, um, it was just here.” Liar! More heat zipped into her cheeks and it was spreading all over her face, she could just feel it slithering and betraying her.

Do not look at him. Time to leave. But she could not move because Ryder was strolling toward them, fully blocking her escape route. He waved and grinned when he saw her with Dixon and hurried over to them.

  This is so not happening.

“Hi guys,” he said as he pulled out a chair and sat beside her. Grrr, why did he have to lean his chair so far out so that she couldn’t even squeeze by him?

“Look who I found,” Dixon said in a much too cheerful voice as he winked at Kelsie.

“Yeah, I ran into her upstairs earlier,” Ryder’s scorching gaze pinned her. She wondered what he must be thinking about her red face. Gosh, why did she always blush so darned easily around them?

Ryder’s smile widened and her heart went into overdrive again at his ultra-sexy appearance with that dark scrubby shadow of a beard hugging his face. She forced herself to stare at her empty cup and hoped they wouldn’t smell her coffee breath.

“You’ll be glad to know that Finley delivered two boys,” Ryder said. Pride was evident in his voice. “Two minutes apart. They are perfectly healthy and under the care of the attending nurse. Finley is quite taken with them. The minute the babies were placed in her arms, she forgot everyone else in the room. She’s going to be a good mom.”

Relief gushed through her. She was glad everything had gone off without a hitch and despite Finley hating Kelsie, she knew by the way Finley interacted with her nieces and nephew at the local park where Kelsie sometimes jogged, that Finley would make a great mom.

“That’s wonderful news,” she said with a smile.

“What’s this?” Ryder asked as he snapped up the flyer.

  No!

Numbly she shook her head and kept her eyes glued to her coffee cup. Her heart began a mad thump and perspiration peppered her forehead as intense thoughts of being naked with these two men tumbled through her mind.

Goodness, they both smelled so yummy. The combination of their scents; Ryder’s leather and soap and Dixon’s crisp outdoorsy smell, had her wanting to indulge in smoo
thing her palms over their broad chests and tangling her hands around each of their shafts.

Kelsie swallowed at those wicked thoughts. Oh boy, she was so hopeless.

“Sounds like fun. Are you going?” Ryder asked. The boldness of his question shot a bunch of shock waves through her.

She shrugged, thankful that her head was angled down in such a way as strands of her blonde hair shielded her face from both men and their intense gazes.

Say yes, Kelsie, a naughty voice taunted inside her head. Invite them along to join you for a ménage. You wouldn’t mind being the filling in a hot manwich.

“No, no time.” Her voice cracked. She could never indulge in sex with two guys who she’d have to face on a daily basis. Besides, they weren’t into women.

  Suddenly, her pager buzzed.

  Thank you!

She grabbed the pager from its holster and quickly read the number. It was an emergency room extension. The familiar pump of adrenalin of a problem with an incoming pregnant woman had her standing.

“Sorry guys. Gotta run. Duty calls.”

“You really need to find a way to de-stress, Doc,” Ryder chuckled as he stood and shoved the chair closer to the table in order to give her some room to escape. But he himself didn’t move, so she’d have to crowd by him.

“Yeah, too much work and no play will stress you right out and make you sick,” Dixon added from behind her.

“I’m a doctor,” she reminded them. “I’ll know when it’s time to play.” She grabbed her empty coffee cup.

  “Gotta go.”

Ryder still didn’t move. He just stood there with a very sexy, daring smile on his lips. Is it possible she’d been misreading these two men? Maybe they were attracted to both men and women? Maybe both of them were bisexual? Her breath halted at that idea. She really needed to start listening to the hospital gossip and learn more about these two men.

“Did anyone tell you that you’re cute when you blush?” Ryder teased as she began to squeeze past him. His breath smelled of mint and his lips were moist and slightly parted as if begging her for a kiss.
